After yet another wonderful breakfast we bade farwell to Stephen and  Jeanette at 2, Cambridge Villas, Ambleside and drove up once again to the car park at the Kirkstone Inn for our final activation in LD.

Another glorious day and six activation points was far more exciting than the prospect of a long drive home. The first 600m involves quite a stiff climb but then the ascent turns into a pleasant walk... all 3.09km of it.

Already on the way up Brian G4ZRP had called us on 2m with a request for a contact on 23cms on arrival at the summit....he is in both our logs..thanks Brian :)

Whilst I had a very good run on 2m today Barry went on to 60m and only managed 4contacts. Now we got all excited when we heard Steve GW1ZVC/p calling from Snowdon and very soon he was in the log...thanks Steve.  Barry walked off to get a 23cm contact with Geoff who by now was mobile but responded immediately to my shouts/whistles that Nick and Geoff were calling from the Mourne Mountains...yet another s2s with them... thank you both for your efforts in GI.

With a few final ‘last calls’ we quickly packed up and made our way down not looking forward to the long journeys home but very happy with all the activation and s2s points that we had collected over the last 4 days.

LD activation set up for both of us:- (HF) Yaesu FT817 + LDG Z817 Autotuner,  5 band link dipole (60/40/20/15/10), (VHF) Yaesu FT270 (5watts) into a ‘cable tie’ dipole.. Antenna support - 7m Fishing pole.
